History Of Our College
The Maharagama Teacher School is transformed into the Entrepreneurship and Management College of Education. On January 21, 1903, Teacher School commenced with a group of 12 undergraduates at Thurstan College, Colombo. Its first principal was the English E. Evans. On January 21, 1903, Government Training College was started . Public Administration Department of the Government of Sri Lanka, Jay Harvard, Acting Director This teachers' college was established as a teaching college in Maharagama on a 28 acre land adjacent to the used barracks by the soldiers during World War II. It was established as a training institute consisting of English, Technology, Physical Education, Home Science, Commerce, Special Education and Mathematics. The teaching staff for the trainees were provided with hostels, lecture halls, playgrounds, cafes, rest rooms, libraries and religious facilities. Training courses at the Teacher Training College were conducted to create a great service for the upliftment of children's knowledge, attitude and development of spiritual and extra-curricular activities. However, in 1986 and 1990, there were two special education and technology courses. Educational work of the Teacher Training College was held with various courses up to June 2014. "To create a full teacher with skills that are capable of surviving life's challenges." Teacher Training College, which was established in accordance with the gazette notification No. 1880/06 dated 15th September 2014, for the pre-service teacher training program for Entrepreneurship and Management Studies, Maharagama The Teacher Training School was promoted as a National College of Education.
